The Dallas Cowboys acquired some impact players in the NFL Draft - most notably first-round pick Ezekiel Elliott - but they failed to address their needs along the defensive line. Both of their starting defensive ends (Demarcus Lawrence, Randy Gregory) are serving four-game suspensions at the start of the season, and Dallas has very little depth behind them. The same goes for the defensive tackle position, where the Cowboys are in need of an upgrde as well. Here are three veteran players they could sign to address those needs:
Chris Canty
Canty started his career with the Cowboys, and a return may be in order for the 33-year-old defensive tackle. The massive 6'7", 320-pounder isn't a dominant force, especially at his age, but he's still a very capable to making an impact against both the run and the past. He would also provide some much-needed experience and another strong locker room voice.
Mike Neal
Neal is a free agent at the moment and said he wouldn't be back with the Packers next season. Neal played 3-4 OLB for the Packers, but the former second round pick would shift to DE for Dallas. He only has 19 career sacks in his six-year NFL - yet that would double the numbers of any other player on the Cowboys' roster.
Jason Jones
Jones is one of the few defensive ends left on the free agent market that would be a quality addition for the Cowboys. He played well last year for the Lions, and although he will turn 30 before the season, Dallas has no experience right now at DE, and that's something Jones can provide.
