The NFL Draft will start in just over a month, and there will be plenty of trades. That's just the nature of the draft, although those trades are very difficult to predict. One of the teams that could be movers early in the draft is the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are picking early in the first round and have proven in the past that they are willing to wheel and deal in the draft.
To help determine the value of each pick and what it would cost, we're using the NFL trade value chart. While the trade values won't match up exactly, we tried to get them as close to even as possible. With that in mind, here are three trades the Cowboys could make in the NFL Draft.
3. Trade Up With The Browns:
Browns Get: No. 4 overall pick, 3rd round pick (No. 67 overall)
Cowboys Get: No. 2 overall pick
The Cowboys want Florida State DB Jalen Ramsey, but he might not make it to the No. 4 overall pick. The Titans might take him first overall, and the Chargers are the favorites to take him No. 3 overall. Moving up with the Browns would allow the Cowboys to snag Ramsey, and the Browns should still be able to take their preferred QB at No. 4. A third round pick is actually less value than the difference between No. 2 and No. 4, but the Browns would likely pull the trigger on the deal. However, that doesn't mean the Cowboys are willing to part with a third round just to move up two spots.
2. Trade Down In Second Round:
I don't have a particular trade partner in mind, but the Cowboys could very well take the No. 34 overall pick and sell it to the highest bidder. The Cowboys could get an extra quality pick or two in this year's draft for it, or even a first rounder in next year's draft. With the Patriots not having a first round pick, the Cowboys' second rounder is even higher than it would normally be. While the Cowboys could add a potential impact player, they could move down a few spots and add more picks later in the draft. Other teams will have plenty of time to stare at their draft between the end of the first round Thursday and the start of the second round Friday. There will be plenty of interest in the Cowboys' pick.
1. Trade Down With The Rams:
Cowboys Get: No. 15 overall pick, 2nd round pick (No. 43 overall), 3rd round pick (No. 76 overall), 4th round pick (No. 110 overall)
Rams Get: No. 4 overall pick
The Cowboys are getting slightly less value than they should in this deal, but it is still quite the haul. The Cowboys add two more picks in the Top 100 and another in the fourth. The Rams could even offer their other second rounder instead of a third and fourth if they want to give Dallas more value in the trade. The Rams would move up to land a QB, likely Jared Goff if Carson Wentz goes No. 2 overall to the Browns. If Ramsey is off the board, then the Cowboys could try to trade down. The team doesn't really need a LB like Myles Jack and DE Joey Bosa doesn't have the type of pass rushing ceiling the Cowboys are looking for. Trading down is a real option for the Cowboys, and the Rams are one of the more likely trade partners.
