The Dallas Cowboys have made several moves this offseason to reshape their roster including a few cuts, headlined by the release of star wide receiver Dez Bryant. We all know that cuts are a major part of the NFL preseason, and as we approach the start of training camp, which notable Cowboys may be the best to be cut? Here are the three most likely:
1) DE Tyrone Crawford
Crawford has been a solid player for the Cowboys but has never lived up to his contract. He only had 27 tackles with 4.0 sacks in 2017 despite playing in all 16 games and is becoming more of a role player than the game-changer he's being paid like. Because of that, he could very well be shown the door.
2) DE Kony Ealy
Once upon a time, Ealy was an up-and-coming star defensive end for the Carolina Panthers who had a great performance for them in Super Bowl 50. Since then, he was relegated to a backup role, traded to the New England Patriots, cut, and produced minimally for the New York Jets in 2017. Dallas is hoping to capture some of that early potential but they're more likely to decide that he simply isn't worth it.
3) LB Sean Lee
This is clearly the least likely of the three players but Sean Lee's injury history can't be ignored. Dallas used their first-round pick on Leighton Vander Esch (who they think will turn into a Brian Urlacher-type player) and if he proves he can produce immediately, Lee's future will look much murkier. After all, he's set for a significant pay increase this year (up to $7 million in base salary) that may cause the Cowboys to consider cutting him. Could Dallas simply decide to save that money?
