The regular season is over, which means the Dallas Cowboys have turned their attention to the offseason. That means the NFL Draft and free agency are on the minds of the Cowboys' decision makers. There are a few potential free agents that the team should target, but there are also a few the Cowboys need to avoid.
With that in mind, here are 3 (Likely) Free Agents The Cowboys Must Avoid In The 2016 Offseason:
3. Antonio Cromartie
The Cowboys need corner help, especially if they cut Brandon Carr, and Cromartie will be one of the more well-known names on the market. He is still under contract with the New York Jets, but he's likely to be a cap causality. His deal will give him $8 million the next two years and $9 million in the final season, but the team can cut him with no dead money. He'll turn 32 next year and is coming off a down season. The reasons the Jets are likely going to cut Cromartie are exactly why Dallas should avoid him. He's a big name, but Cromartie appears to be on the decline. He likely won't sign a short, team-friendly deal, so the Cowboys should avoid Cromartie.
2. Greg Hardy
Hardy was good, but not great this season. He made a few plays, but wasn't disruptive enough. He's rehabbed his value to the point where a cheap, incentive-based deal likely won't be good enough for Hardy. He should command some money, and the team is better off spending it elsewhere. The team has Demarcus Lawrence (who outplayed Hardy) and Randy Gregory, meaning DE isn't major need. Hardy wasn't a good teammate this year and the team would be better off spending the money elsewhere.
1. Johnny Manziel
There isn't a situation in the world right now that says the Cowboys signing Manziel is a good move. He'll likely be cut by the Browns this offseason, because they are done with him. Manziel hasn't played that well in the limited playing time he's received and his partying ways are a major issue. Jerry Jones might want Manziel, but this move would be a disaster. Signing Robert Griffin III makes far more sense than adding Manziel. The Cowboys simply can't sign Manziel this offseason.
