The 2015 NFL Trade Deadline is less than 24 hours away, which means the Dallas Cowboys' front office has a very small window if they want to get a deal done before Tuesday afternoon. With that in mind, here are 3 Cowboys Trade Rumors You Need To Know Before The Deadline.
Forte Unlikely
Forte has been linked to Dallas since the start of the season, but don't expect Dallas to make a deal for the Bears running back. Forte is absolutely on the trading block, but he injured his knee Sunday and is expected to be out at least two weeks. That alone might be enough to scare off the Cowboys. Plus, Darren McFadden has played well lately and the team already dealt for Christine Michael. A Forte-to-Dallas deal made sense for both sides earlier this season, but less so now.
Two Names That Make Sense
Before we get very far, neither of these players have been linked to Dallas by any credible source. However, they make sense as additions for the Cowboys and would be quality additions. We'll start with Willie Young, who requested a trade earlier this season. Young is a misfit in the Bears 3-4 defense and would be much more productive in a 4-3 defense. The Cowboys could use an extra pass rusher and could possibly get Young for just a seventh rounder.
Next up is Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson. This one is highly unlikely to happen, as he's reportedly off the trading block. That's a surprise, since the former first rounder has caught a meager two passes this season. He's been passed by several players on the depth chart. However, he would immediately fix the Cowboys' return issues, although that talent is likely the reason why the Vikings want to keep him. If the Cowboys could get Patterson cheap, he'd be a great addition.
Don't Expect RGIII To Join Dallas
While I'd love for Dallas to trade for Robert Griffin III to eventually replace Tony Romo in two or three years (it's better than Johnny Manziel!), don't expect that to happen. The Cowboys fit as one of a few possible destinations, but it seems highly unlikely RGIII will be going anywhere at the trade deadline. It's far more likely the Cowboys are silent at the deadline, especially since they've already dealt for Michael and Matt Cassel.
