The Dallas Cowboys are a team to watch as the 2015 NFL Draft approaches, with plenty of intriguing trade scenarios and potential picks being speculated upon by a variety of sources. With that being said, here’s 3 Dallas Cowboys NFL Draft Rumors You Need To Know.
Jay Ajayi A Top Draft Target?
The Cowboys are still looking for talent to full replace All-Pro running back DeMarco Murray, and they’ve reportedly targeted Boise State running back Jay Ajayi as the prospect they want, per a Rant Sports report.
The report adds that the Cowboys are unlikely to spend draft picks on trading for embattled Vikings RB Adrian Peterson, instead choosing to get younger and cheaper in the backfield. Ajayi dined with the Cowboys earlier this week, so he very well could be the man for the job.
Dallas Still In The Linebacker Market?
Despite the re-signing of Rolando McClain and the impending return of Sean Lee, Richie Whitt of NBC 5 DFW still thinks the Cowboys will consider drafting a linebacker in 2015:
Considering (Sean) Lee’s litany of injuries and McClain’s kamikaze style, obviously the Cowboys still need help at the position. They signed Keith Rivers, Jasper Brinkley and Andrew Gachkar in free agency and still have Kyle Wilber and Cameron Lawrence as returning veterans. Again, those pieces are much more appealing with McClain as the anchor. But I’m still not sure drafting another linebacker is out of the question.
Cowboys Looking West For Defensive Help?
Per a report by Chase Goodbread of NFL.com, the Cowboys hosted three Pac-12 defensive standouts in Dallas this past week: UCLA linebacker Eric Kendricks, UCLA defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa, and Washington linebacker/safety Shaq Thompson.
While all three guys project in the third round, Odigihizuwa has risen on some draft boards into the mid second round -- a steep price to pay for the Cowboys when it comes to landing a defensive end.
