The Cleveland Cavaliers are "close" to signing Derrick Rose to a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Adrian Wojnarowski.

Cleveland has been trying to make a significant addition to their roster this offseason, but with a lack of cap space, they haven't been able to do so. They are trying to sign Rose for the veterans minimum ($2.1 million).
Rose has been seeking a starting job on the open market, but has seen interest in him dry up. The Milwaukee Bucks were expressing the most interest in him - and the Los Angeles Clippers also explored adding him - but neither had the cap space to give Rose the kind of deal he was looking for.
However, it appears that Rose is willing to come off his asking price to join a title contender in Cleveland.
LeBron James has been frustrated with the franchise about their offseason moves and that has created speculation about his future with the team. Kyrie Irving also said the offseason put the team in a "peculiar place." Cleveland's front office is hoping that signing Rose will appease their star players.
Rose averaged 18.0 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game for the New York Knicks last season.
