The Philadelphia 76ers are planning to pursue LeBron James James in free agency this offseason, and it appears that some mutual interest exists between the sides. According to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Alaa Abdelnaby, James spent part of the All-Star break looking to private schools in Philadelphia for his kids.
“I’ve told this to a few other people, and I have no problem saying this, my brother lives in the Philadelphia area and he told me that LeBron, last week through a superintendent, was in the area checking out some private schools during the All-Star break,” Abdelnaby said.
James' kids are already enrolled in school in Los Angeles, which is why many thought the Lakers were the frontrunners to sign him away from the Cleveland Cavaliers. If this report is true, it's clear that the Sixers are very serious players in the mix.

Philadelphia may present LeBron his best chance at long-term success should he choose to leave the Cavs. The 76ers have the second-youngest roster in the league, headlined by a pair of superstars in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, and have enough cap space to sign him to a max contract.
James is expected to decline the $34.6 million player option on his contract for next season in order to explore free agency. A number of other teams, specifically the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Los Angeles Clippers, are planning to pursue him on the open market.
He is averaging 26.7 points, 9.0 assists, and 8.4 rebounds per game this season.
