NBA Draft Lottery: Cleveland Cavaliers Will Pick First Overall In the 2014 NBA Draft

The ping pong balls are in, and the Cleveland Cavaliers will pick first in the 2014 NBA Draft. Their 33-49 record from 2013-14, ninth worst in the league, qualifies them for the ninth highest probability - 1.7% chance of getting the 1st overall.

This is not the first team to significantly beat the odds – in 2008, the Chicago Bulls jumped their pre-lottery position by eight spots, only to draft future Rookie of the Year and 2011 League MVP Derrick Rose.

This makes three 1st overall picks in four years for the Cavs - Anthony Bennett in 2013 and Kyrie Irving in 2011.

At number one in this year's draft, there’s a wealth of talent for Cleveland to choose from. With a currently vacant head coach position, all eyes are on newly named full-time GM David Griffin. Prospects include Duke forward Jabari Parker, center Joel Embiid of Kansas, and Andrew Wiggins, SF from Kansas.

The 2014 NBA Draft will take place on Thursday, June 26.
