Detroit got out to an early lead in a sloppy first quarter, but Cleveland got things together and took a 47-39 lead into halftime. The Cavs extended their lead in the third quarter, and then held on the fourth for the easy win.
Turning Point:
Cleveland closed the second quarter on a 19-8 run, which is when they were able to break away and grab control of the game.
Key Stat:
When the Pistons beat Cleveland earlier in the season, they did so because they made 17 three-pointers. This team lives and dies by the three, and tonight they died by it. Detroit made only eight of 24 attempts from long range as a team on the night, good for only 33 percent.
Cleveland MVP:
Kyrie Irving took advantage of Detroit not having Brandon Jennings, scoring 38 points on 13/22 shooting (6/10 from three) while dishing out six assists. LeBron James also had a big game with 32 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.
Detroit MVP:
Greg Monroe was the Pistons' most consistent threat tonight, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. D.J. Augustin filled in for Jennings nicely on the offense end, scoring 19 points and passing for nine assists.
What’s Next?
Cleveland returns home to face the Portland Trail Blazers tomorrow night, while Detroit hits the road to face the Sixers tomorrow.
