Minnesota and Cleveland went back and forth during the first quarter, but the Cavs created distance in the second and led 64-56 at the break. Cleveland continued their dominance in the second half as they cruised to the easy victory in the first game between these two sides since the offseason trade that sent No. 1 overall pick to Minnesota and Kevin Love to Cleveland.
Turning Point:
Cleveland closed the third quarter on a huge 16-1 run, turning a relatively close game into a blowout.
Key Stat:
The Cavs seem to have found their rhythm on offense, and showed their dominance and efficiency on that side of the ball, shooting 52.4 percent from the field.
Cleveland MVP:
LeBron James continues to put up MVP-caliber numbers as he dropped 24 points along with four assists. Kyrie Irving also had an outstanding night, finishing with 29 points and four assists, and Kevin Love put up a double-double (20 points, 10 assists) in the first game against his former team.
Minnesota MVP:
Andrew Wiggins came out on a mission to show Cleveland what they missed out on, scoring 27 points on 9/16 shooting.
What’s Next?
Cleveland travels to Miami to take on the Heat on Christmas Day, while Minnesota will travel to Denver to face the Nuggets on Friday.
