Cleveland and Boston traded figurative blows in the first half as neither side was able to get much of an advantage, though the Cavs led 51-50 at the break. The Cavaliers extended that lead to double digits in the third quarter and then held off a Celtics rally in the fourth to grab the victory.
The win gives the Cavaliers a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
Turning Point:
After the Celtics cut the lead to two in the fourth quarter, Cleveland responded with a mini 7-2 run that allowed them to recapture a comfortable lead and regain momentum.
Key Stat:
Cleveland's defense proved to be the difference in this one as they held the Celtics to just 38.8 percent shooting, including 27.3 percent from three-point range.
Cleveland MVP:
LeBron James asserted himself all night, and he torched the Celtics for 30 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Kyrie Irving also had a great performance in his second playoff game, recording 26 points and six assists.
Boston MVP:
Isaiah Thomas was the spark off the bench the Celtics needed him to be in this one, scoring 22 points while dishing out seven assists.
