The Cleveland Cavaliers came out hot, obviously feeding off a raucous home crowd to take a 55-44 halftime lead. Cleveland then blew the game wide open in the second half as they cruised for the season victory.
Turning Point:
Cleveland opened the third quarter on an 11-4 run, turning a decent lead into a blowout. That run seemed to defeat the will of the Kings as the Cavs were able to hold on the rest of the way.
Key Stat:
The Cavs' improved defense really showed tonight as they were able to limit Sacramento to just 37.5 percent shooting on the night. They were especially effective on the perimeter, allowing the Kings to make just three of the 17 three-pointers they attempted.
Cleveland MVP:
Kevin Love had a huge game in his first outing since not making the All-Star team, scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while obviously trying to make a point. Kyrie Irving (21 points, six assists) played well after his 55-point night, and LeBron James chipped in with 19 points and seven assists while dealing with a sprained wrist.
Sacramento MVP:
Center DeMarcus Cousins justified his late entry in the All-Star Game (he's filling in for the injured Kobe Bryant) with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Rudy Gay (20 points, nine rebounds) also played well.
What’s Next?
Cleveland travels to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves tomorrow night while Sacramento will continue their road trip against the Pacers tomorrow.
