The Cleveland Cavs are continuing to interview a host of candidates for their vacant head coaching position, with former Los Angeles Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro having interview with the team this past weekend.
Per Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal, "Del Negro, 47, is close personally to Cavs General Manager David Griffin. His contract was not renewed after last season despite guiding the Los Angeles Clippers to a 56-26 finish. They lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs and Del Negro departed amid numerous reports star guard Chris Paul wasn’t in favor of keeping him."
Vinny Del Negro also has two years of coaching experience with the Chicago Bulls, and has a 210-184 regular-season record as a head coach.
Del Negro also spent 12 years in the league as a player, spending time with the San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, and Phoenix Suns.
He joins a list of interviewees including former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins and former Phoenix Suns head coach Alvin Gentry.
