Cleveland Cavaliers’ Anderson Varejao was on his way back to Brazil for his wedding when he stopped to help fellow Brazilian travelers who had been stranded at Cleveland's Hopkins Airport. Varejao served as a translator for the tourists, and even helped another pair make their flight on time. The Brazilian player, known for his distinctive floppy hair, even helped his fellow Brazilians find a hotel in Miami to stay the night before their flight departed.
The tourists, Kwak and Victor Choi, spoke only Korean and Portuguese, and did not even have a cell phone with them that worked in North America. They found it difficult to understand the American Airlines employees, but fortunately Varejao was able to step in and help out. When the two got home, Kwak went online and and discovered that the guy who helped them out is actually the Cavaliers' popular center.
The managing editor of the Stepien Rules blog broke this story Tuesday. Varejao later confirmed the story, but turned down a request for an interview.
