In today's look into Cavs rumors and news, the Cleveland Cavs are enamored with their new head coach, European legend David Blatt. However, one of their big free agent targets for this offseason and/or next might not be as impressed.
According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, "while former Maccabi Tel Aviv coach and Framingham native David Blatt was hired on Friday as coach of the Cavaliers, an NBA source said that hire is not going to attract LeBron James to consider returning to Cleveland. The source said the Cavaliers would “lose any real chance” at signing James, who has until June 30 to opt out of his contract with the Heat and become a restricted free agent."
It's hard to say exactly why Blatt's hiring would have such a negative effect on the team's chances for James. Whether it has to do with name recognition, system clashes, or the fact that LeBron doesn't have any emotional ties to Blatt, it is now looking less likely that the Cavs will be able to facilitate a return for LeBron in the short-term.
However, this is all merely speculation at this point - so take it with a grain of salt.
