The Cleveland Cavaliers canceled their plans to give away 20,000 arm slings during the team's Game 2 victory over the Chicago Bulls. The original plan was meant as a show of support for injured star Kevin Love, but the team decided against the giveaway and gave out small white towels instead.
Here's the AP's Tom Withers with the report:
The Cavs intended to hand out the slings, adorned with a sponsor's name, during their Eastern Conference semifinal series against Chicago but scrapped the idea.
A team spokesman would not comment on the giveaway. It's not known what the team plans to do with the unused slings.
Love was forced to have surgery last week after his left shoulder was dislocated by Boston Celtics center Kelly Olynyk in Cleveland's series-clinching victory in round one.
