The Cleveland Cavaliers caught fire midseason and have cruised into the Eastern Conference Finals, where they will face the Atlanta Hawks. Now just eight wins away from winning the city's first title since 1964, here are three reasons why the Cavs will win the NBA championship:
3) “Spurtability”
Spurtability is a basketball term used to describe a team’s ability to go on a game-changing run at any given time, and there might not be a team in the NBA with more spurtability than the Cavaliers. Kyrie Irving and LeBron James are capable of getting done by themselves, but J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert are also unstoppable when they get hot from the field.
2) Home-court advantage
Cleveland started slow at home, but Quicken Loans Arena into one of the toughest places to play in the NBA. The Cavs have lost just twice at home since January 7, and the Hawks don't appear to have the firepower to get it done.
1) LeBron James & Kyrie Irving
The old adage in the NBA is that you can’t win in the playoffs without a superstar, and Cleveland has two in LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. LeBron is still the best player in the world, and Irving has repeatedly shown he has the ability to take over and win a game for his team at any given time. Even without Kevin Love, LeBron and Kyrie have shown they can consistently do what it takes to get it done.
