When his former Tampa Bay Rays manager, Joe Maddon, joined the Chicago Cubs in Detroit to face off with his new team last week, Tigers pitcher David Price had plenty of great things to say about his former boss.
Reading between the lines, the Cubs rumors mill has been busy wondering whether Price is a legit free-agent option for the team next winter.
Here's what Price had to say, via the Detroit Free Press:
"Joe is a very unique manager," Price said. "He was perfect for our team in Tampa. It's kind of the same way in Chicago right now.
"He does a really good job of making everybody in the clubhouse comfortable, loose and relaxed. When you have young guys, that's what you need. ...
"It's very similar to when I first came up in Tampa. Just a bunch of young guys out there having fun. That's what it's about. You have to be able to have fun. I don't want to win and not have fun. I wouldn't rather lose and have fun, but it's pretty close. ...
Price added that he's "always prepared for a change," giving us plenty to go on when it comes to a potential reunion with his former skipper at Wrigley.
