The Brooklyn Nets are rebuilding, but are interested in adding a few veterans this offseason to help kickstart that process. The Nets appear to be going for a few notable names, but whether or not they can land anyone is another question. Here are all the latest Nets rumors and news you need to know.
Jeremy Lin is Brooklyn's top target?
The Nets have made finding a starting point guard their top priority this offseason, and it appears the Jeremy Lin has emerged as their top target. According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, the Nets plan to "hard-sell" Lin, and there's a very small chance that he returns to the Hornets.
Brooklyn is also pursuing Rajon Rondo, but Lin is clearly their preference. He averaged 11.7 points and 3.0 assists per game off the bench for the Hornets last season.
Bazemore another target
Another young player the Nets are looking to add to their core? Forward Kent Bazemore, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe:
Kent Bazemore will have suitors everywhere, including in Milwaukee, Memphis and Brooklyn, sources say.
Teams are worried Brooklyn will jump the market on unrestricted free agents with ties to new coach Kenny Atkinson (Lin, Bazemore), and some under-the-radar young guys.
Bazemore, who Atkinson coached as an assistant with the Hawks, has expressed his desire to stay with Atlanta. However, with an abundance of cap room, the Nets could simply outbid everyone else.
Nets looking to add veterans?
While Brooklyn has placed an emphasis on young players given their lack of draft picks over the next few years, but they're also hoping to add some veterans. Lowe also reports that the Nets have shown particular interest in Jared Dudley, among others.
