In today's Nets rumors and news update, the Brooklyn Nets could be suffering from a similar fate as many NBA teams - waiting on Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James to make their decisions in free agency before making significant moves in the league's marketplace.
After a proposed sign-and-trade of Paul Pierce to the Clippers fell through when the sides couldn't come to an agreed value exchange, ESPN Dallas' Tim MacMahon posited the Mavs as a potential suitor for Pierce - providing they can't woo either Melo or LeBron to the Big D.
"A case can be made that signing "The Truth" to a short-term deal is the best realistic scenario for the Mavs to upgrade at small forward," MacMahon writes, via Net Income of Nets Daily.
At this juncture, the Mavs look to be out of the Melo sweepstakes. Anthony is currently rumored to be leaning towards returning to New York or heading to Hollywood to play with the Lakers.
That leaves James - who, at this current point, is the biggest question mark and biggest potential catalyst for a litany of moves to come both via trade and free agency.
So, the Nets might very well be waiting on LeBron James - just like everyone else around the NBA.
