The Brooklyn Nets are trying to start a rebuilding process by unloading former All-Stars Deron Williams and Brook Lopez in return for young players they think can be a part of their future. There isn't a lot of interest in Williams on the trade market, but Lopez is drawing several offers. Here are the guys they're looking to get back any trade they make at the deadline:
Reggie Jackson, PG, Oklahoma City Thunder
Jackson has made it clear that he wants the opportunity to start somewhere in the league, and with Deron Williams on the outs, the Nets will need a point guard. The Thunder and Nets have been talking about a deal centered around a Lopez-Jackson trade for weeks, so a potential swap that would bring Jackson to the Big Apple is very much in play.
Lance Stephenson, SG, Charlotte Hornets
It’s no secret that the Hornets haven’t worked out for Stephenson, and a change of scenery could be best for all involved. Charlotte has been trying to deal Stephenson since the star of the season, but haven’t had much success. Character concerns are the biggest red flag surrounding Stephenson, and he’s best suited for a team with a veteran locker room. He's a Brooklyn native, and spending time with Kevin Garnett as a mentor could do wonders for him.
JaVale McGee, C, Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets have already offered McGee, J.J. Hickson, and a first-round pick to the Nets in return for Lopez, showing their major interest in making a deal. Denver's first-round picks are their biggest asset, but if they get a deal done, Brooklyn wants to get McGee back in return. He's still an elite athlete and good shot-blocker, and Garnett again would keep his on-court antics to a minimum.
