The Boston Celtics have big plans this summer. The Celtics aren't just trying to land one superstar, they're trying to get both Paul George and Gordon Hayward.
Adrian Wojnarowski of the The Vertical reports the Celtics are trying to sign Hayward and then make a deal for George with the Pacers. However, the Celtics want a commitment from Hayward before they make a trade for George, who has just one year left on his deal.
Boston would need to make a few roster moves to fit both Hayward and George on the roster in terms of salary cap. They would need to shed some salaries. For the time being, the Pacers are focused on making a trade with the Celtics, who have some of the best assets in the NBA. The Celtics have several young players and are flush with draft picks in the coming years.
There are potential pitfalls in the Celtics' plan. The Pacers might not be willing to wait until the start of free agency to make a deal. Hayward could also elect to stay with the Utah Jazz. If that's the case, the Celtics could target Blake Griffin, reports Wojnarowski.

George has told the Pacers he'll leave after this year, with the Lakers his preferred destination. However, the Celtics are confident they can keep George if they also land Hayward. Adding both George and Hayward would make the Celtics NBA title contenders and give them their own super team.
