Boston Celtics rookie Marcus Smart will not play Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers, per a report by the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn:

Smart was injured on November 7th (just two weeks ago), and doctors initially gave him 2-3 weeks in order to make a full recovery.
However, according to Celtics president Danny Ainge, Smart's return will likely come on the conservative end of that estimate.
"I'd be surprised if he were able to play this weekend," Ainge said late this week, via CSNNE.com. "He's getting better. But I think he's at least a week away."
The Boston Celtics are no hurry to force Smart back on the court. The 2014 NBA Draft first-round pick has been diligent in his rehab, but the Celtics seem content to err on the side of caution when it comes to the valuable youngster's health.
