After being dealt to the Boston Celtics as an expiring contract in the Jeff Green deal, former Memphis Grizzlies wing Tayshaun Prince is slated to meet with team officials about the next step in his career.
If the Los Angeles Clippers have their way, the Celtics will initiate a buyout with Prince so the Clips can swoop in and add him to their wing-strapped roster.
As Tayshaun Prince prepares to meet with Celtics to discuss future, the Clippers have registered interest in acquiring him, source says.
If Prince doesn’t want to stay in Boston, the Celtics would pursue trade avenues before agreeing to buyout, source said.
A buyout, however, is the preferred method of acquiring Prince for the asset-strapped Clippers.
With Boston in the midst of a rebuilding project, it's likely Prince will want to explore playing for a contender - especially in the Western Conference.
If so, the Clippers appear poised to race to the negotiating table if the Celtics and Prince decide to sever ties.
