The Boston Celtics are showing the willingness to pursue a trade involving All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, according to Yahoo Sports.
Boston has left strong impressions across the league that they're prepared to make a deal, and have been involved in "serious" discussions with various teams about trades involving Rondo in recent days, though nothing is imminent.
The Celtics still have a high asking price, according to the report, and would prefer to trade him to a Western Conference team.
Rondo will be a free agent when the season ends, and Boston has been unwilling to offer him a max contract. They like what they've seen from rookie point guard Marcus Smart this season, and view him as their point guard of the future.
Rondo is averaging 8.0 ppg, 10.6 apg, and 7.5 rpg this season.
