The Boston Celtics have acquired point guard Nate Robinson from the Denver Nuggets in a trade for Jameer Nelson, according to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo Sports.
Boston got Nelson as part of the trade that sent Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks, but wasn't expected to be a part of the Celtics' long-term plans.
Not only does the deal bring Robinson, a member of the Celtics from 2010-2011, back to Boston, it gives the Celtics more flexibility going forward. Robinson will be an unrestricted free agent once the season ends, while Nelson had a player option for next season.
This wraps up a busy week for the Celtics, who dealt forward Jeff Green to Memphis and forward Brandan Wright to the Phoenix Suns a few days ago.
Nelson is averaging 6.8 points and 4.4 assists in 24.3 minutes a game this season, while Robinson is averaging 5.8 points and 2.3 assists in 14.1 minutes a game.
