Carl Soderberg skated for the second straight day on Tuesday, but continues to miss practice with an ankle injury.
Soderberg had a very impressive training camp this summer and was set to start the season on the third line with Chris Kelly and Reilly Smith. However, in the final preseason game on September 27 against the Winnipeg Jets, Soderberg injured his ankle and has been out ever since.
Over the past two days, Soderberg has been on the ice, skating with strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides. Coach Claude Julien said Soderberg is “progressing extremely well” and is still day-to-day.
It is unknown if Soderberg will be put immediately into the lineup when he is healthy again. Jordan Caron is taking his place and has performed very well thus far, creating a tough situation for Coach Julien when Soderberg is ready to go.
