After four days off, the Boston Bruins will welcome the Colorado Avalanche to TD Garden on Thursday night.
Thursday night will mark exactly two years since these two teams last played. On October 10, 2011, the Avalanche beat the Bruins 1-0. Because of the shortened season last year, no Western Conference team traveled to Boston. The Bruins will be forced to prepare extra hard since they haven’t faced the Aves in over a year.
New head coach Patrick Roy has led the Aves to a 3-0 start in his first season as head coach and has the hockey world buzzing over his fiery coaching style. Colorado defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 on Tuesday to remain one of the few undefeated teams left in the league.
At just 18 years old, Colorado’s first round draft pick in the 2013 draft, Nathan
MacKinnon has started off his NHL career by recording four points in his first three games. The youngster is all over the ice making plays and is making an early case for the Calder Trophy.
The Bruins have not played since defeating the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. Boston had Sunday off and has practiced for the past three days in preparation for the Avalanche.
According to Adrian Dater, of SI.com, Jean-Sebastien Giguere will be getting the start in goal tomorrow night against the Bruins.

It would be Giguere’s first start of the season.
Boston will likely send out Tuukka Rask for his third straight start this season. Rask has been sharp this year in his first two games, only giving up one goal in each start.
Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. and can be seen on NESN.
