Big Ten Football Recruiting Roundup Heading Into Week 9

We're on the verge of yet another great week in Big Ten Football, but before the games get started, we thought we'd give you your recruiting fix. Here is the top recruiting news for each of the 14 Big Ten teams.

East

Ohio State Buckeyes

A 2017 Ohio State commit is drawing comparisons to former Buckeye great Johnathan Hankins. According to Cleveland.com, Jerron Cage could be the next Hankins for Ohio State. Cage is the No. 14 defensive tackle in the nation.

Michigan State Spartans

The Spartans are hitting the state of Georgia hard for recruits in the class of 2017. Michigan State offered two players from the state, reports the Detroit Free Press. One of those was WR Trey Blount. The offer from MSU co-offensive coordinator Dave Warner came as a surprise to Blount.

“After practice, he was still there,” Blount told 247Sports. “So I introduced myself to him and he told me he already knew who I was and that they wanted to extend an offer out to me.”

Blount holds offers from numerous schools, including Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.

Penn State Nittany Lions

PSU hosts Illinois this weekend, and several top targets will be in attendance. The Nittany Lions are expected to host 12 recruits, according to 247sports. Those recruits include QB Kasim Hall, a three-star 2017 recruit

Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines have offered 2017 offensive lineman Carter Warren, reports 247Sports. A three-star offensive lineman, Warren also holds offers from Rutgers, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and Miami (FL).

As for the nation's top 2016 recruit, defensive lineman Rashan Gary, 247Sports has an update on his recruiting. The Wolverines are still the favorite for Gary, although Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Ohio State are all in the running.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Class of 2016 offensive lineman Yasir Durant is delaying his decision, reports 247Sports. Durant is down to Rutgers and Arizona State, but will push his decision back from his original time frame of early November.

Maryland Terrapins

The Terrapins haven't given up on 2017 defensive end Terrell Hall. The four-star recruit has offers from many big name schools, including Alabama, Penn State and Ohio State.

Indiana Hoosiers

JUCO QB Richard Laglow is eyeing an official visit to Indiana, per 247Sports. IU hasn't offered Laglow yet, who has an offer from UNLV.

West

Iowa Hawkeyes

Four-star offensive lineman Matt Farnik is down to his top four options. 247Sports reports those four schools are Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska and Florida State. While Iowa is still in the mix, Nebraska is considered the favorite.

Wisconsin Badgers

An SEC commit will visit Wisconsin, per 247Sports. Aaron Robinson is already committed to Florida, his "dream school," but he'll still use one of his official visits on Wisconsin.

Class of 2017 four-star defensive end Corey Malone-Hatcher will visit the Badgers this weekend. Malone-Hatcher holds offers from Wisconsin, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame, among others.

Northwestern Wildcats

The Wildcats have offered a 2017 four-star offensive lineman. Walker Little already holds offers from Texas, Ole Miss and Stanford and now has one from Northwestern.

Minnesota Golden Gophers

Minnesota hosts eight recruits this weekend, as the team faces Michigan in its first game without head coach Jerry Kill. The Golden Gophers have 17 committed players.

Illinois Fighting Illini

Illinois is already targeting players in the class of 2018. Per 247Sports, Illinois has offered athlete Kalon Gervin. It's not the first offer for Gervin, who holds offers from Akron and Toledo.

Nebraska Cornhuskers

Iowa already has a commitment from three-star athlete Noah Fant, but the Cornhuskers aren't giving up on him yet. Fant made an unofficial visit to Nebraska during the Wisconsin game, but he's still a firm Iowa commit.

Purdue Boilermakers

A 2017 offensive lineman will visit Purdue this weekend. Spencer Stachyra doesn't hold offers from any FBS schools yet, but that could change in the near future.
