In this Falcons rumors and news update, Atlanta Falcons starting running back Steven Jackson is progressing nicely in his rehab from a hamstring injury that he suffered early in training camp - so much so that Jackson could be back on the practice field very soon.
According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, "coach Mike Smith said Wednesday that Jackson has stepped up his rehab work with the team’s trainers and could be ready to take the next step and practice with his teammates soon. Smith even left open the possibility that Jackson could play in the team’s final preseason game."
Smith sees good signs coming out of Jackson's rehab, but is leaving it up to the doctors' discretion as to whether or not the veteran should hit the field sooner rather than later.
“We are encouraged by what he has done over on that side with athletic performance,” Jackson said, per the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “It’s going to depend on the individual in terms of how he feels and once the doctor gives him the clear to go, then he will go.”
