2015 NFL Draft: Atlanta Falcons Select OLB/DE Vic Beasley

With the eighth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select Vic Beasley out of Clemson.

Position: Outside Linebacker/Defensive End

Measurables: 6’4”, 269 lbs, 32 ⅝” arm length, 9 ¾” hands

Analysis:

One of the most productive front-seven players in the history of the Clemson football program, Beasley posted 52.5 tackles for a loss, 33 sacks (1st in school history), 29 quarterback pressures, 11 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles and two defensive tackles in 48 games over four years (25 starts).

A two-time first-team All-American and two-time first-team All-SEC selection, Beasley dropped jaws at the Combine with a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, 4.15-second 20-yard shuttle, and 35 reps on the bench press. He’s a naturally explosive pass rusher with a keen instinct to read the snap, and his hip and lower-body fluidity allows him to dip up and under blocks along with turning the corner at breakneck speed. A converted running back, Beasley’s quick feet and closing acceleration could easily slot him amongst the NFL’s elite outside linebackers down the road.
