The Braves swept the Mariners this week, bringing their record to 47-35. Still 4.5 games out of the first place Phillies, the Braves hold a 3 game lead in the Wild Card standing over the Diamondbacks.
Freeman went 3-4 with 2 RBI.
Derek Lowe pitched a terrific outing and Craig Kimbrel recorded his 23rd save of the year, extending his major league record for rookie saves before the All-Star break. (previous record was 14).
Up next is the 35-42 Baltimore Orioles. In 2006, I took a tour of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. This is one of the most beautiful parks in the majors, with the right field wall about twenty yards from an old factory, which is now the executive building. All around the stadium on the brick ground, there are baseball sized plaques representing a home run hit. The longest hit home run there was at 431 foot homer by Ken Griffey Jr. The plaque resides on the wall of the old factory.
If you ever get a chance to get to Camden Yards, do it! You probably wont be able to walk on the field and see the dugout like me, but you'll enjoy it nonetheless.
Tomorrow in Atlanta, Jair Jurrjens looks for his 11th win of the year battling against Baltimore's Jeremy Guthrie, who's only 3-9.
Win Streak at 3!
