In his rookie season as the Atlanta Braves closer Craig Kimbrel is 15/19 in save opportunities. While only 23 years old, Kimbrel has taken on a huge amount of pressure as the Braves closer.
At 5’11”, and weighing in around 205 lbs, Kimbrel doesn’t look like your typical closer, but he brings the heat like no other. His fastball’s speed tops out at an astounding 99mph, not to mention his "Papelbon-esque" pitching stance.
At 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA, Kimbrel season stats aren’t as great as they should be, but in 28 appearances in 2011, he has a 40/13 Strikeout to walk ratio and a 1.26 WHIP.
Some say he’s the Wagner of the future, but for right now, there’s only one way to go: up.
