Even before Tim-Hudson's season-ending ankle injury, the Braves were on the hunt for some starting pitching help. Now in the wake of losing Hudson for the remainder of the year, the Braves have thrown themselves into the Jake Peavy sweepstakes.
Peavy made what was probably his last start for the White Sox last night, picking up the win after tossing 7 innings of 4-run ball, allowing 4 hits and striking out 7. The Braves had a scout at the game, as did the Red Sox, Cardinals, Dodgers, Orioles Mariners and Reds.
Atlanta has tried to trade for Peavy before, back when he was on the Padres in the late 2000s. The frontrunners currently are thought to be Boston, St. Louis and the Oakland A's, but the Braves could certainly work their way into that mix.
