The Arkansas Razorbacks football program is rounding its 2016 recruiting class into shape with just a few days until National Signing Day, adding their 19th commitment of the cycle after receiving a pledge from Marshall (TX) safety Micahh Smith this weekend.
Smith was offered by head coach Bret Bielema on Friday afternoon. He liked what he heard.
"He believed in me above all of the other safeties they have chosen," Smith said. "They gave me a lot of good feedback to give to my mom and that I could be a huge player for Arkansas. More Arkansas football recruiting news inside our Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps!
"He wants me to play for him and believes I am more explosive than some of the players he has recently recruited. He believes I can make a big impact for the Hogs."
While he's only a two-star recruit according to most analysts, Smith still had a mind-blowing year in the high-pressure world of Texas prep football as a senior -- recording 120 tackles, three tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and three interceptions.
"Playing in Texas is way bigger football than anywhere else," Smith said. "In Texas, you play with the big boys. The big, fast dudes and the country boys and I excelled at that level and can excel at this one too."
Per 247Sports' Composite Rankings, Smith is listed as the #160 safety in the class. The Razorbacks currently have a borderline Top-20 recruiting haul.
