Taylor Chavez is transferring to Arizona to be closer to ailing grandmother and take on a lead guard role

After playing off the ball at Oregon for three seasons, Taylor Chavez is excited to be a lead guard with the Arizona Wildcats.

That was one of two driving factors in her decision to transfer to the UA. The other is so she can be closer to home and her ailing grandmother, who went into cardiac arrest in January.

“Over the past three months, really up until even now, it’s just a rollercoaster ride with her health,” said Chavez, a Surprise native. “She’s been in and out of the ICU...so it’s just been a roller coaster, and as of right now she looks good.
