Would there be a better way to send Smart out?
Smart already has been introduced as Georgia’s new coach, and he has been doing double-duty for the past four weeks, both preparing the Tide (12-1) for its College Football Playoff semifinal in the Cotton Bowl against Michigan State (12-1) and hiring a staff and recruiting for the Bulldogs.
Smart has been at Alabama for nine seasons and been defensive coordinator for the past eight (Kevin Steele, who served as LSU’s coordinator this season and will be Auburn’s coordinator next season, was Nick Saban’s first DC at Alabama).
