Comeback effort falls short as Brewers lose 8-6

The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates started their second series of the season this evening at American Family Field, with Colin Rea taking the hill for the Brewers against the Pirates’ Mitch Keller. Bryan Reynolds had five hits, and Keller managed to throw six shutout innings despite allowing eight hits, as a late Brewer comeback effort fell just short. The Brewers also lost Rhys Hoskins in this game when he pulled up as he arrived at first base after a second-inning single.

Rea did not get off to a great start. Bryan Reynolds hit a one-out single and Rea almost got out of the inning when Oneil Cruz nearly hit into a double play, but he beat the relay throw by half a step.
