Earlier on Monday, there was a small wave in Orioles social media with a report from The Athletic’s Britt Ghiroli that Kyle Stowers was being recalled to join the team. The team made an official announcement shortly after and the move is a simple one: Stowers is up and Heston Kjerstad is back down to the minors. In a separate transaction two hours later, the Orioles activated Austin Hays from the injured list and designated Ryan McKenna for assignment.
Hays returning on Monday was expected after manager Brandon Hyde suggested his rehab stint at Double-A Bowie could be over soon after five games where he was hitting and running well.
