D-Backs 2, Reds 1: Sweet Series Victory

It’s rare that games or series live up to their billing, but this series and especially this game absolutely did: the pitching dominated, the Reds completed a track meet, and runs were at an absolute premium. After last night when the Reds pitching was in command, today was the D-Backs’ turn as Brandon Pfaadt turned in his undoubtedly finest outing of the season. Even better, after struggling throughout the first two matchups to deliver the big hit (going a combined 3-for-18 with runners in scoring position), the bats finally carried the day late in the game.

The offense from both teams can be very quickly summarized: a pair of solo home runs for each team and a singular hit with runners in scoring position for the Diamondbacks.
